Dakar 2026… We got it done!

Where to start!? 3 years of planning, qualifying and raising funds. 14 days, over 8000km across Saudi Arabia, racing with the best in world, in the worlds toughest motorsport event. We started together, stayed together and finished together.

The size of the Dakar is mind blowing, the Yanbu Bivouac being 2km long and 1km wide filled with teams, staff, truck, cars, buggies, bikes and competitors. We’d not even got the bikes out of the lorry and we were already taken away.

The stages totalled over 8000km across the wildest terrain we’d ever been on. From technical rocky climbs, stone filled dry river beds, huge wadis and lake beds, sand tracks that went on for hours, small sand dunes as high as van, to huge sand dune as big as the Brecon Beacons, we rode it all!

Some of the longest days we’ve done on a motorcycle, 14 to 16 hours a day sat on the seat. Our longest day was 940km, some competitors slept out in the dunes that day and to finish off the stage on rest day!

The marathon stages; we had two of them to contend with at the 2026 edition. In one way super tough because we had no support from the team back at the bivouac. But in another way very enjoyable, a very quiet evening sitting with the best riders in the world, we’re all in the same situation, no mechanics, just us, the bikes and the silence of the desert.

Our little S2D Race Team; Dad, Dave and Fred – These boys worked endlessly to make sure both of us and the bikes were in the best condition we could be to take on the challenging days. The bikes were faultless, with only the odd issue creeping in, but nothing we couldn’t handle.

Honestly, we’re still taking it in, 7 months later! We’ve not really posted much from Dakar it’s been so hectic returning, busy catching up on family life and working on our family business. Over the next month or two we’ll be releasing some footage and a vlog to run through everything. Keep you eyes on the socials for these.

We were just two lads that took a shot at living their dream, and we got it done, thank you!
